Matthew Grunwald

Matthew Grunwald, CFA, is a Canadian investment professional and the founder of Torva Capital Management Inc. He founded Torva Capital in 2020, focusing on investments in publicly traded companies and corporate credit.

Previously, he was a registered portfolio manager at RPIA, a Canadian alternative credit investment firm, where he led investment research across health care, technology, media, telecommunications, and energy, while contributing to the management of credit and equity portfolios. He later served as Chief Investment Officer at PaceZero Capital Partners, a Canadian private credit firm, where he oversaw investment research, due diligence, and transaction structuring.

Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from McGill University and previously served as an engineering officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. His investment philosophy centers on fundamental research, long-term value investing, margin of safety, and risk management.
